Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 17, 2026

1. Introduction

At Readlater, operated by Emmanuel Watila, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our text-saving and organizing service ("the Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address, name, and any other information you provide during the registration process. For social logins (Google and X/Twitter), we only collect your email address, name, and display picture.

Saved Content

We store the text, highlights, and web pages you choose to save through the Service, including the source URLs and any organizational metadata such as collection names and tags.

Usage Data

We automatically collect information through standard server logs about how you interact with the Service, including your browser type, device information, IP address, pages visited, and the time and date of your visits.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Process and store your saved content
  • Help you resurface and organize your saved content
  • Send you service-related notifications and updates
  • Respond to your questions, and support requests

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in Neon database hosted in AWS Europe Central 1 (Frankfurt). We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, as a solo-operated service, we cannot guarantee absolute security. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We share your information only with the following service providers necessary to operate the Service:

  • Vercel (Application & Marketing site hosting)
  • Neon (Database storage in AWS Europe Central 1, Frankfurt)
  • Google and X/Twitter (for social authentication via Better Auth)
  • Plunk (Email notifications)
  • Cloudflare (Content delivery and Security)

These service providers are bound by confidentiality agreements and may only use your information to provide services to us. We may also share your information to comply with legal obligations or to protect our rights and safety.

6. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies solely for authentication purposes to keep you logged in to the Service. These are essential cookies required for the Service to function. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies, but this may prevent you from using the Service.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access, update, or delete your personal information
  • Object to or restrict the processing of your data
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw your consent at any time

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the email address provided below.

8. Data Retention

We will retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service.

When you delete your account, your personal information — including your email address, name, and username — will be permanently deleted. However, any bookmarks or saved content you created will be anonymised and disassociated from your account rather than deleted, because the underlying content originates from third-party sources and is not user-generated. No link between that content and your identity will be retained.

9. Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you via email as soon as reasonably possible and take appropriate steps to mitigate the impact.

10. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your minor child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us immediately at [email protected]. We will take prompt steps to delete such information and terminate the associated account from our platform.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified via email and by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.

12. Contact Us

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us at [email protected].
